About Us

Founded in March 2019, Manor Equine Vets provides ambulatory equine veterinary care across a wide area of County Down, with our core base in Comber/Newtownards and surrounding areas. Our office address is in Ballygowan.

As an RCVS-registered practice and member of associations such as BEVA, IEVA, NIVA and AIRCVS we offer both routine and emergency care, always prioritising compassion and high-quality service. In 2022, we were honoured to receive the Equine Award NI for Best Vet Practice.

We are a pragmatic, friendly first-opinion practice that values clear communication and strong client relationships, delivering both personal and professional care for your horse.

Emergency Call-Outs

We understand that emergencies can happen at any time. Our 24/7 emergency call-out service for registered clients is available for urgent cases such as (but not limited to):

  • Colic
  • Wounds and injuries
  • Respiratory issues that are sudden and severe
  • Severe, sudden lameness, painful foot abscesses
  • Newborn foals & mare checks including placenta/afterbirth (off or retained)
  • Illness around foaling (foal or mare)
  • Eye injuries (closed or swollen eyes, wounds, discharging eyes)

If your horse requires urgent veterinary attention, don’t hesitate to contact us.

If you’re unsure whether it’s an emergency, give us a call—we can advise if urgent care is needed or if it can wait for a scheduled visit.

For emergency call-outs, payment is expected at the time of the visit. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

We share out-of-hours cover with another friendly local independent equine-only practice, ensuring emergency care is always available while distributing the load of working irregular hours. If Manor Equine Vets is not on call, our voicemail will provide the contact details for the on-call vet.

Highly recommend Quirine. Her clinical knowledge of horses is phenomenal. She is kind and caring and my mare who has stranger danger issues was at ease with her every visit. I’m very confident with any diagnosis and advice Quirine would give to me!
